Dr Tamar Jeffers McDonald

Tamar Jeffers McDonald is Reader in Film at the University of Kent. Her research interests encompass genre, film costume, performance and, most recently, movie magazines (see www.normmanetwork.com) Her work on the Gothic combines these elements and is concerned with the persistence of Gothic tropes in contemporary media texts.

Frances Kamm has just completed her PhD in Film Studies at the University of Kent with her thesis entitled: ‘The Technological Uncanny and the Representation of the Body in Early and Digital Cinema’. Her research interests include theories of the uncanny, the filmic body and visual effects technologies. Her interest in the Gothic combines these areas with a particular interest in the haunting of technology, the Gothic heroine and Gothic spaces on-screen.
